Get writing for your chance to be a winner!

As we approach the a century of posts, impressive I know, I’ve been thinking about how to celebrate this milestone. Over the last 6 months I have managed to rant and muse upon many different areas of psychology specifically relating to the OCR specification. We’ve also seen the new specification for 2008 go from draft to approved (with the shock that Zimbardo was missing from the AS course).

Whether it’s me getting lazy or just that I would like to see some other peoples views appearing here on PsychBLOG I’ve got news of two give-aways.

Something for nothing?
The first of the two giveaways could get you copy of any one of ‘A Short Introduction’ series (The Brain: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions), Psychology: A Very Short Introduction, Consciousness: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions), or Intelligence: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)). A must for every psychology student or teacher’s desk. All you have to do to be in a chance to get a copy of this is register and comment to posts that I make on the site. The more comments you make the more likely you are to be in the ‘Top Commenter’s” box on the side. At 10pm on the last day of every month the top 5 commenter’s of the month will go into a prize draw and one lucky person will get their choice of book or a £5 amazon voucher. It’s as simple as that. Please make your comments useful though, and one that just goes around making pointless comments will have those comments deleted! The first draw will be on October 31st so get commenting.

Aren’t books great
The second give-away is a competition for a book review of your choice. Starting soon I want to publish other peoples reviews of books that you have found a great read (or rather pants). The only stipulation is that the book review has to be of a book that relates to OCR psychology. It could be a text book, revision book or anything else that links (I have always liked The Jigsaw Man for the psychology of crime). All you have to do is write a review of between 250 and 750 words, email it to me and then all of the reviews will be published over the coming months. At the beginning of next year a public vote will take place on the site and the best review will receive a copy of The Penguin Dictionary of Psychology (Penguin Reference Books) and The Brain Box: Very Short Introductions. Closing date for entires is December 31st 2007.
